I agree with others. Put your weapons where they can't be reached,obey the speed limit and cruise through. But if you really want to avoid it,take I-79 to I-64 then get on one of the parkways that takes you around the tip of Illinois and into Missouri. But it does take you out of your way. If you're not in a hurry and don't care about the extra gas it's a nice drive. WE live near Reading,Pa and have taken that route once coming back to Pa from Az.The route got us close to the northern end of LBL and we stayed at one of the Canal campground overnight.If you have the Senior Pass it's half price.
