- dennysbabeExplorerOkay, I've verified with State Farm that our vehicle insurance is good in Canada. As for medical insurance, I should have explained I have a PPO Anthem Blue Cross plan that will reimburse me for any medical bills I may have while traveling in Canada. However, my husband is on a medicare advantage HMO plan, and does not have medicare with a supplement. The HMO plans do not provide coverage outside of the US which is why I was wondering if anyone has purchased any of the travel medicare insurance plans.
- soosExplorer IIwe also got a yellow card for Canada for proof of insurance on our vehicles, although our agent said we don't need it these days. I called BCBS and as the previous poster said, we were told we are covered up there.
Sue - TothillExplorerCheck with your credit card company. I know many Visa Cards in Canada include Travel Insurance.
Also if you are employed and have extended health coverage you may also have international travel insurance as part of your plan. Check with your plan. I know for ours there is a different card for out of country travel.
Last thing to check is if you plan pays the bill for you, or reimburses you once you have paid it yourself.
Ok another thing to check. Find out if the medical plan will cover the cost of an ambulance if needed. In BC they will bill you for ambulance rides. They are not going to ask for money up front. - cekkkExplorer

If the OP does not have medicare then we cannot help.
Just to clarify, does our Medicare work up there? If so, do you know if our supplemental applies assuming Medicare does operate in Canada? - crabbin_cabinExplorer IIFor medical - we have BC/BS as our supp/ to medicare. They will reimburse me for any Canadian out-of-pocket expense. If the OP does not have medicare then we cannot help.

- USAFBILLExplorerI always just call my Insurance Company (GEICO) and the send me insurance cards stating for travel in Canada. Give them a call.
- donn0128Explorer IIAll you have to do is hot the notify moderator button at the top of your post. I have already asked him to move it for you.
As for insurance? Your truck and RV insurance are valid in all of Canada for a visit.
As for the medical insurance part of your question, I have traveled north of the border extensively over the years and never needed any. But you should call your insurance provider and ask them about coverage or how it works. - dennysbabeExplorerSorry! I accidently posted this in the wrong forum and don't know how to move it. ::?
