Refused entry with a truck & camper
Had a call this morning from Mike & Terri, they are being refused entry with a truck camper on a 1 ton. My mexican partner is trying to deal with it via phone. Not sure if the issue is the truck bein...

Btian: You are trying and that is good. But using any on line translator is full of problems. Mexican Spanish is not the same as Castilian Spanish. In Mexico there are many words in the North that are quite different that those in the South. Camioneta is one of them. I will bow to Chris for anything further re Language.

Producing paperwork will just reinforce the agents decision whether he/she is right or wrong, and an entry in the computer will make it "fun" the next time you are crossing.
Which is why I have been relentlessly emailing both SAT and Aduana CIITEV to get the correct translation of the laws as they are written and what they are intended to say. I do not claim by any means that Google Earth translates correctly – never said that – I said that is how it comes out but I am emailing the authorities in MEXICO CITY to get their interpretations of the laws.
Nor do I suggest anyone produce this “paperwork” showing the laws as they are written in Spanish until you have already been told you cannot enter Mexico. At that point I would politely discuss the reasons for denial with a smile on my face and showing the utmost respect for the authorities at the border. But I would point out the wording of the laws and the definitions as they are written in the laws. BUT ONLY AFTER BEING REJECTED!
Once again – I am asking questions of the headquarters authorities of the various agencies in Mexico City to get a clear and concise translation and interpretation of the laws as they are written and intended. I am not claiming anything or suggesting what you do with any of this. I am asking questions to try to get answers for those who are interested and might have problems at at some border crossings.
Here again are the rules in Spanish. You can interpret them any way you want. But what SAT has told me is they mean that the weight laws do not apply to motor homes. It would seem they include recreational vehicles in this classification as well. I am still trying to get a solid definitive answer from them about whether a pickup with a camper should be defined as a recreational vehicle. I have sent them pictures of many pickup campers as well as the specs from the Big 3 manufacturers in the US. All these laws and many others regarding this whole issue have already been posted here previously. My thinking is the translation and interpretation from headquarters would be the correct one. I would accept no other translation or interpretation and in no way do I suggest anyone else should. I am not offering an OPINION as so many here seem to do - I am asking the authorities for the very specific definitions of the rules. I accept no others - most are just OPINIONS - I prefer facts.
2.Vehículos Motor Home (casa rodante).
La Regla 4.2.6. de las Reglas Generales de Comercio Exterior vigentes, no hace alusión al artículo 158 del Reglamento de la Ley Aduanera, por tal motivo se puede importar temporalmente una casa rodante sin importar el peso.
3.Vehículos que van conectados a una Casa Rodante.
Cuando la casa rodante transporte o remolque un vehículo, el personal de Banjercito deberá otorgar al mismo importador un permiso de importación temporal por el vehículo y otro por la casa rodante, por 180 días, siempre que se cumpla con lo dispuesto por las Reglas 4.2.6. y 4.2.7. de las Reglas Generales de Comercio Exterior vigentes.
4. Vehículo Recreativos.
Pueden ser las camionetas, casa rodante o remolque diseñado para su utilización como viviendas utilizadas para actividades durante la noche y los viajes.
