Regarding the Admin Post on acceptable topics for this forum

I must respectfully decline to agree with the Admin post at the top of this forum on Mexico.

I think SAFETY and other RVer's experience with safety issues while in Mexico (or Canada for that matter) is an acceptable topic for posts here.

I do agree that political rants/opinions etc may be out of place. I would point out that if all one does is read the State Department Notice to Travellers NO ONE in their right mind would go to Mexico.

What is needed is real time information from folks that have been there or are there about conditions as they experience them and I think questions about this and answers to those questions are perfectly appropriate.

I would hope that you would clarify your sticky post to reflect a bit broader level of discourse on the safety issue.

Thanks

  • This is not a blog nor does navigator speak for every member of this forum . There are many seasoned travelers who have stopped coming to Mexico and many considering the same. I, for one, would like to hear their logic behind these decisions and I hope others do as well. However the moderator does a good job of not letting negativity get out of hand. Navegator is suggesting censorship and one opinion only.

This area is for those that have traveled, continue to travel, some of us have families, and still travel to México.

We know what is going on, and do not need biased, exaggerated and many times over blown opinions or gossip.

The State Department tends to lump an incident that happened in a small area with the whole State, and or Country.

If you do not like this particular blog, we ask you to not give us your opinions and or misinformation.

This blog is mainly for information on rv parks, road conditions, and areas that may be of interest to those that travel South.

I have traveled to México for more than 50 years, first with my parents and then on my own, the wife and I still travel, and we have family and friends in México.

With all due respect if you disagree with this blog, we do not need your comments!

Well thank you for putting me in my place Navegator. As I read your response what you are saying is that those members who want to get answers on safety in Mexico from those that have been there or are now there as it concerns RVing need not bother you here on this forum as it is strictly for you RVers who have already been there.

    That's very interesting.

I think if you read my post again a bit more carefully you will note that I say that Safety AS IT RELATES TO RVing in Mexico should be an acceptable topic.

I have traveled and lived in countries as diverse and challenging as Egypt, Cambodia, Laos, Sierra Leone, Morocco, and yes even Mexico. I know all too well the quirks of the State Departments take on Travel Safety in foreign countries.

But the most astounding thing you say in your response is that if I DARE to disagree with anything in the blog then Just Leave....mmm "Love it or Leave it" Where have I heard that old refrain before...

My post was simply about asking and getting answers to questions of safety while RVing in Mexico. This could and should include issues of theft, break ins, personal safety etc. The issue of Bear Safety is an acceptable topic in the Alaska Forum so I really don't see what the issue is. I am very sorry you felt my post somehow a personal attack upon you. Why should such a simple thing be so controversial? It is after all a part of the RV experience and isn't This site about sharing your experience? Isn't that why you guys are all here?

    Thank you for your time.

  • In the defence of the Admin Post!

I think that there is a legal protocol that must be adhered to by the Owners of this Website!

That doesn't mean that We the subscribers necessarily agree with the opinions expressed nor does the opinion of the Owner necessarily reflect their personal feelings about the subject matter.

We happen to choose to follow Our Hearts , which is Our choice to make freely! The warnings about travel in Mexico are valid ,but in Our Opinion there is less to worry about crime wise in Mexico than in some areas of the USA and or Canada!
