Richmond, IN to Peoria, IL

Headed to the midwest after Labor Day, usually take I-70 to Indy, hit I-465 beltway south (to avoid downtown traffic) to I-74 west and on to Peoria. As I recall, last summer there was construction and detour on the west side of the beltway near the I-74 junction. Has anyone been on this route lately? If so, I'll probably choose to go thru town.

    Let me ask a question. How does going thru town help you around construction near the junction of I-465 and I-74 that you want to use. Suggest you go to Ind. Dot web site and see what is going on. Happy trails. A few years ago I went thru the road construction around the airport and I-70 from I-74 and never blinked.

    john&bet, the construction was on I-465, the I-74 exit was detoured and was poorly marked, we ended up on some side streets trying to find our way back to the interstate. I'm just lookin' for smooth sailing.

    Guess I will find out about it on Oct.5th when we head thru there.

    I just checked the DOT web site and the only construction they showed was at 465/us40(washington). Suggest you go around the north side. I can't I will come in from I-65 south. They even have a web camera on that intersection(465/I-74 and it shows no construction. Our last time thru there was this pass late DEC. and had no problem.

    I was through Indy mid July going using I-74 from Cincinnati, OH to Bloomington, IN. I had no problem with any construction on I-465. There was a little construction at the turnoff to I-74 but no worries.
