RMNP - Trail Ridge Road Opening Date (and other info)

RMNP has announced the tentative opening date of Trail Ridge Road/US 34 in Rocky Mountain National Park -- May 22nd, weather permitting.

Presumably, they've started the process. The road is closed at Many Parks Curve on the east side (8 miles from Main Entrance), and the Colorado River Trailhead on the west side(10 miles from the west entrance).

Bear Lake Road is open and has been all winter. The parking lot is clear/dry and the snow depth at the lake, as of 5/1/15 was 35 inches.

The Old Fall River Road is tentatively scheduled to re-open in July 2015, after having been closed all of last season.

I'm going up to Moraine Park this weekend and will try to get updated information from folks there in the Park. As of this weekend, Moraine Park is still in "winter mode" meaning only B loop is open and the water has not yet been turned on for the season.

This info provided for all the long range planners wanting to come out and enjoy RMNP!
  • Is US-36 Boulder/Longmont fully open this year or is there still construction delays to plan around?

US 36 from Lyons to Estes Park is completely rebuilt, open and is ready for summer traffic.

US 36 from I-25 to Boulder (The Boulder Turnpike) is under construction for a goodly portion of the drive from I-25 to Boulder, with lane shifts. That's likely to continue for a long time.

CO 66 is the road that runs from Longmont to Lyons and last time I was through there, no construction going on at all. There may be some minor road work in Lyons itself, but nothing that would cause delays.
