The highway past Banff and Lake Louise and on through Yoho is the Trans Canada Hwy, the main cross country highway of Canada. The Banff NP portion is divided.
There might still be some rough spots left over from last years flooding (mainly in the Canmore area).
The Icefield Parkway north to Jasper is a slower road - which is fine given the scenery. But nothing worse than the roads through Washington National Parks.
There are lots of threads about these parks on the Canada/Alaska section.
