The 2013 Guia Roji Distance Table showed the route via the 190 to Tehuantapec and Salina Cruz to be 124 kiometers longer and half an hour shorter. This for a car. (419 kilometers in 5.5 hours vs 295 Km in 6.0 hours.)
We did it years ago via Salina Cruz (pre '08 anyway) and I believe we made Huatulco just before dark. I don't think I have the old log book with us but I'll have a look. We were in a 32' Triple E Commander (Class A) towing a 2 door Tracker soft top. The road was narrow but no worse than many. The turn off is just before Mitla.
The 2015 Guia Roji still shows the proposed toll road to be partially completed at each end with no connection.
