Roads

Does any one know if you can take a rv trailer through Hermosillo downtown and not use the devils road, the perifico. I drove through downtown a few years back with just a truck and if I remember right, the streets were nice and wide and it was an easy smooth run through Hermosillo. Unless they've changed the Hermosillo Perifico and Obregon roads are just horrendous. Also, since the chicken ranch is now gone, is the Pemex south of Los Mochis still good for overnight, or is there another campground close by that I don't know about? Is it too early for Mex 15 road report? Anyone driven the road yet? Thanks for any help. Bye the way, I enjoy the forums and have gained lots of helpful knowledge from all of you . Thank you all for taking the time to post information.
  • Brian is it not on East side?

You mean the one just as you head out of town. The one I am talking about is around 4 miles further south. See the Lat Lon I posted on Google Earth.
  • Iguana, you're thinking of La Pilarica, which is close to town, and North of Pemex #4925, which Briansue is referring to

    La Pilarica
  • Brian is it not on East side? Stayed there twice huge place and secure with guard. Same place as Rob When heading south exit on west side head north and go under 15 turn into truck stop/fuel station Parking is in the back Sometimes very congested with trucks fueling up you have to get past them to enter compound. $50 pesos to the guard is what we gave for the night. Felt very secure. Probably will stay there this year.
  • We use the Pemex about 4 miles south of Los Mochis - west side - southbound - much quieter that those close to town - security guards - electric gate - always room - not many noisy trucks - huge lot - can be seen on Google Earth. 25.78307 -108.87611
  • We attempted to use the Place that Tequila suggested last Spring. we were advised to leave as there had been some trouble or other ,we went back to the Pemex South of Town . much better in My Opinion.
  • Yes but the periferico is better. I accidentlaly missed the turn one year and went through downtown.

As far as los mochis, there is a pemex immediateley north on the east side of 15, just north of the large interchange at the north end of town. Next to that pemex (north of it) is what looks like a chinese restaurant althoguh it no longer is. Accesible north or southbound. Pull in there go to the back and to the right and there is a huge parking area. It is actually behind the pemex and not visible from the highway. You will be charged maybe 50 pesos. We use it for caravans. Pretty secure as truck tend to park overnight across the entrance to it (you can still get out)
