I just finished reading all 26 pages of posts Lots of great information!
My husband and I plan to leave southern California in early May, our first trip to Alaska in our motorhome. Currently we are planning to cross the border in Idaho, heading to Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper – then onto Dawson Creek and the start of the Alaskan Highway. We plan to return on the Cassier Highway. We are figuring to be gone for about four months.
The only reservations we have are in Denali at Teklanika CG, July 2-8. Hope to meet up with PISTOLPETER55 when we are there! And the Klondike RV Park in Soldotna for a week of fishing July 21-27.
In addition to the books already listed I have found these to be helpful: Guide to the Alaska Highway, by Ron Dalby; RVing to Alaska by Ronald E. Jones; The Church’s book Pacific Northwest Camping Destinations ( for British Columbia and parts of Alberta); Lonely Planet Alaska; and Moon Western Canada.
