On our last trip between Palmer/Wasilla and Valdez, we filled up in Wassila as we were staying at the now closed and sold off, Homestead RV Park in Palmer. Then we too stopped for fuel at the Chevron on the west side of town, that PA12DVR mentions and saved a nickel or a dime a gallon over the "Hub" station at the intersection. Then on to Valdez for a few days, then filled up in Valdez and bypassed stopping in Glennallen on the way north. Stopped at Mentasta Lodge on the Tok Cut Off for fuel and on to Tok. There is also a station up by Christochina, Posty's Lodge that can usually be counted on for fuel. When I get into the more remote parts of the state, I tend to be more concerned with fuel being available and the price a secondary issue. Same is true when flying, in remote parts of Alaska, you take and pay for what you can find, in the way of fuel.
Everyone has to decide for themselves, how important is it to save $3 or $4 on one fill up. Being able to go across the street and save is one thing, going without is a different matter to me. :D
