Getting ready to head north and going over Butch50 list of things to do at home before leaving and have a couple of questions. 1. Why leave the air condition on instead of shutting it off? 2. Saran wrap on the toilets and in the drains? Thanks for your replay.
1. I live where the heat in the summer well reach over 100* so in the house being closed up well reach above those temps inside and this is hard on items in the house. If you live where it is a more moderate climate than you probably don't have to worry about this.
2. The Saran wrap on the drains and toilets are to try and keep water in the P trap in the drains and keep water in the toilet so sewer gas does not come up the drains. This well happen a lot faster the hotter the house is. Can you imagine coming home and having your house smell like a sewer. It is also explosive. If you have someone coming into your house from time to time have them flush the toilets and run some water into all the drains. Another one to not forget if you have a basement is the floor drain in the basement. I once forgot about our floor drain when we were there and started getting the smell and I then remebered I had forgotten to pour some water down that drain. Not a very pleasant odor for sure.
