The new building is the one I am talking about for "cheaper" fuel. But for the old one, I think it was Denis Wilderness, but I do not see the fuel tank, round type I think it was.
Yes, it must be hard to do business in this area, especially with internet now that we are a bunch to watch for fuel price etc. The season is very short and not everyone has to stop for fuel or food, the road is better than the old days and we can go a long way before fuel. Just think about Haines Junction, the only food store was closed in 2012, but they had fuel, beer and Alcool! and just chips, coke, can food and small stuff.
I can normally easily do 600 km (375 Miles) with my Truck Camper without white knuckle on the steering. If I push it with full fuel in the fuelling neck, maybe 800, but it allways depend on the wind. At 600 KM I try to find a fuel stop. I will probably bring some 3 gallon spare this year, just to ease it off, especially going to Deadhorse.
So for me, fuel will be:
Dawson Creek, fuel up, last time I fueled only in Grande Prairie and was a bit scared in between, especially that there was a snow storm.
Fort Nelson, fuel up 425 KM
Check fuel level at Muncho and Liard Hot Spring
Watson Lake, fuel up 542 KM
Whitehorse, fuel up 408 KM
Fuel up at Haines Junction to make sure I can make it to Tok in case Border City has no fuel. It would be 650 KM and the wife with big round eyes!
Border City, or TOK, pass the Alaska Border
Then it is a no brainer for Alaska all around.
