joe.b Thanks for sharing. For a first trip we wanted to spend as much time as possible. And the once in a life time trip to cross it off of the bucket list turned into an exciting adventure that beckons us to return.
For any length Alaskan trip there is a significant fixed cost overhead especially for fuel and wear and tear on the rig. We spent much more than planned and it was worth every penny.
For example we took the Fjord Express from Haines to Juneau. I did blink at the $165 cost but it was a great trip and the crew worked hard to make it part of our adventure.
Can't say much for Juneau itself. It's now overrun with Caribbean jewelery stores, same stores, people, products and cruise ships. So we visited the Red Dog Saloon and avoided the rift raft.
