Some of of the campgrounds in the Alaska and Canada boonies have only 15A electrical service. Obviously A/C will not be needed on the trip, but does anyone have any tips on coping with 15A service? I assume W/H should be on propane, but our refrigerator is electric only.
The PI HW30C and HW50C have a remote that you can use to monitor power so that can be helpful.
A clampon ammetter and line splitter can check/monitor any device with a standard household plug - ie 20A pedestal, etc. Or the clampon can check any wire that you have access to. So another way to better understand your power requirements.
Can you turn down the charge rate for the batteries? I can set mine to 10% increments and generally required to lower the charge rate on 20A.
Add a second independent 20A circuit as you may be able to use 2 20A plugs or at least take adequate heavy duty extension cords.
Do you have a gen? If not get one and be prepared to use it for backup.
I'm assuming you have adequate batteries and inverter for the refer. Does you alternator have the capacity to recharge the batteries in a few hours with say lights etc on while driving? I would hope that your rig does.
Minimize opening the refer, using DC lights and other power as required to run the refer and furnace and a few lights. MW, TV etc may need to be off. You might be able to run the refer and small ceramic heater on low or just have adequate warm clothes.
