Departure date? We'll leave San Diego the week after Easter, and hit the border crossing into Canada at the 1st of May.
Have you chosen your route north? I used to cross at Sumas, but now prefer Osoyoos, north of Lake Chelan, WA.
My normal stops include (depending on weather, being tired, etc.) outside Kamloops, Prince George, Chetwynd or Charlie Lake depending on weather/tiredness, Ft. Nelson (I have a friend who lives there), Liard Hot Springs (to have a short travel day after cresting Summit and to relax). Next is a 400 mile pull to Whitehorse (I prefer 300-350 mile days), then Tok, then anywhere on the highway that seems like a good stopping place - Nelchina, Tolsona...and last stop home in Anchorage. I've done this trip many times in March and November. Going in May will, I hope, be a dream!
I have the plan from 2013 Street & Trips, making some changes to the last part of it, to cut out for a 3-4 week shorter trip period.
We're visiting some people along Int 15 as we go North, so will cross where 15 turns into 4 at Coutts. A side benefit of this, is that it is not BC, so if they wish to charge us for our wines, it will be a lower amount. (We like the vino, and will leave with 5-6 cases at kickoff:)!)
I've a pretty good list of places to stop along the way, adding to it all the time. We'll play it by ear much of the time, and just see which way we stop along the way:)!. (Have noted the busy weekends, and will plan to be off the road either in a park or dry camping appropriately.)
Though we've cut out 3-4 weeks, we do want to take our time along the way - so we'll probably do shorter runs, and stay a few days whenever we want.
Best,
