We've tent camped many times, including two weeks while rafting the Alsek River.
Don't store any food, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. - anything with a scent, in your tent. Just you, your sleeping bag & pillow, and the dogs. Keep your food and smelly stuff away from the tent.
Sometimes a rodent critter will run around or under your tent so the dogs might be hopping and bopping. Our cat successfully killed critters through the tent floor.
You'll see lots of other tenters. It's the preferred accommodation for most motorcyclists, of which there are many doing the AK Hwy.
