I am using plywood that has three coats of paint on it and then I will be putting two or three coats of polyurethane over that. Will be using a nail with a rubber washer and that will be it for us. Sign has our first names and our town on it.
Great idea on the rubber washers...I guess galvanized nails would be helpful as well? Just completed our sign using a wood burning tool (Harbor Freight $9). Painted the letters black and coated with polyurethane.
