Gordon Three,
i'm sorry that your alaskan experience is a bad one..you just hit a bad spell of weather and understandably, that will ruin a photographer's trip...
but, 3 weeks is relatively short to visit such a vast area...there's a good chance that if you had more time you could either travel to a different part of the state where the weather is better, or just be patient and sit it out while editing or cataloging your photos.
we're currently in toad river, bc and today was cold and dreary. fortunately, there was great wifi at the park so i stayed in all day and read tons of articles on the internet relating to landscape photography, tips on wildlife photos, and how to best use 2 new filters i got...
fortunately, i don't have a time frame so i felt today was a great one for me, but if i only had 3 weeks, i would've felt as if i wasted valuable time.
i hope you'll be able to salvage the last week and am so sorry that you won't be able to go home and rave about alaska...maybe you'll be able to return and have more time to explore and shoot the beauty that exists...
good luck...
