We are now in Hyder, Alaska at Camp Run-A-Muck and we will soon head down to Fish Creek to greet the bears. Last night we were at Bell 2 Lodge and I have never experienced such vicious horseflies, mosquitos and other biting/stinging bugs. They did not bother me when I was running, but once I stopped to walk, I was very thankful that I had my trusty bandana to use to swat them away.
A note about Cassiar Highway---we found it to be in very good condition. The potholes, dips and gravel were well marked. I would say that from Bell 2 to the turn off to Hyder was fairly new asphalt and was quite smooth. I guess that maybe after the ALCan, most any road would seem good.
BTW, I just noticed the Casita that is here at Cam Run-A-Muck---with Roll Call Alakska 2014 sign. We are in the Scamp 5th wheel.
A couple of days ago, we made the turn and are now headed for home. It will probably take 2-3 weeks because we plan to spend some time at the Grand Canyon North Rim, Durango, CO and Northern, NM.
