In Fall, the residents of West Dawson (west side of the Yukon River) must wait for the river to freeze and the ice bridge to be put in before crossing, and then in Spring must wait out the river break-up. With the Top of the World not open either, they need to stock up on supplies. Those who work in Dawson, need to stay in a hotel and wait it out.

In February 2012, I chauffeured Alex from the reality TV series, Ice Road Truckers, across the ice bridge at Dawson. Along with the location manager. Ironic, huh?
