Yup, in Yukon the law requires headlights on at all times when driving Yukon highways.
Most newer vehicles have daytime running lights, which is adequate to meet the law. If your vehicle doesn't have daytime running lights, be sure to turn on your headlights while travelling on Yukon highways. There are signs to remind you.
Hello Sue ! As a Yukon native , you would be the one who knows . The headlights on 24 7 while on the road in your wondrously beautiful territory (it is a territory still , is it not ? ) is rooted in the quest for increased visibility and safety on the roads when virtually ALL the roads in The Yukon were dirt, rocks, and gravel, is it not ? I remember well the clouds of dust and glimpsing two dim headlights emerging from the cloud and being able to get a bit more heads up of an approaching vehicle because of the headlights being on .
In 1970 I recollect only a short section of pavement on the Alcan right in Whitehorse . The rest were all unpaved .:)
and it was still politically correct to call it the Alcan in 1970 :)
