Thinking about Talkeetna, I also had the pleasure of meeting Ray Genet several times prior to his ill-fated Everest trip and also met Lowell Thomas Jr. a time or two....another rosy nostalgia moment thinking how small the state was 40 years ago.
I don't recall a specific fishing guide in the early days with an airboat. Know quite a few folks that have them....one tends to think of Mahay during the early days of running the Talkeetna area rivers, but I don't think he ever used airboats.
I have helped a couple of friends either retrieve or dismantle their airboats when they attempted the "...cross the muskeg..." bit: it works fine on swamps, but get into "tundra" with tussocks and things tend to go bump and stop.
A good jetboat driver can go to 99% of the places an airboat can and will scare away 99.99% less game. IMNSHO.
