I personally don't understand the attraction of driving north on the Haul Road just to go to the Arctic Circle or especially to see Deadhorse. For me, it's sort of like going to the Four Corners Monument at the CO-UT-AZ-NM border. It's not very scenic and really not very memorable, especially when there are so many other spectacular sights to see in the region.
If I were going to spend that kind of time and $$$ and just had to go north, I would fly Alaska Airlines to a Native Alaskan town north of the Arctic Circle like Kotzebue or Point Barrow, rather than an oil camp at Prudhoe Bay (where the "locals" are from Texas or Scotland). Or, better yet, leave the RV in Fairbanks and take a bush plane camping trip into either Gates of the Arctic or Kobuk Valley National Parks. It may seem expensive, but that's one trip where virtually no one you ever meet in the future will likely know that those two national parks even exist. And you will have seen sights and had experiences you will never forget.
Or, if you have to drive, follow Sue and Murray's suggestion and do it on the Dempster, not the Dalton.
