I have glass insurance on my car. For four years of driving the AK Hwy, no cracks, but then last summer I took a rock from one of the semis delivering fuel from Fairbanks to Whitehorse.

Ha! Each summer I have several near misses with RVers when driving my car. Last summer an RV was driving good & easy on the frost heaves so I pulled out to pass on a straight stretch. As I was beside the RV, the driver swerved to my lane to avoid a frost heave - good thing my small car was manoeuvrable and small enough to drive the shoulder.

Another time, an RVer was turning around on a side road, backing to & fro on the highway. He backed in to the driveway and stopped, so I figured it was safe to carry on by. But then he pulled out right in front of me. I expect his wife was giving it to him, as her arms were waving as I swerved to avoid him.

I also am entertained by the RVers who feel they need to drive the speed limit or faster. Their rear bumpers are sparking on the asphalt when they hit the frost heaves, their hitches are hitting the pavement, etc. Slow down! Sometimes I try to slow a driver down by being in front and hitting my brakes to alert them to the big frost heaves but that just seems to annoy the drivers. Okay...go for it. Tear your rig apart. :B
