Using my GPS tracks, the distances are:
- Cassiar Hwy route: 1202 km or 747 miles
- Alaska Highway route: 1386 km or 861 miles
So the Cassiar route is only 184km/114 miles shorter.
This would be give/take some miles, due to human error in merging the GPS tracks to get the total distance.
Some young folks Chris and G Travels off YouTube when Cassiar last year and there were some brutal gravel sections. Being able to move faster could make up for 114 miles I'd think.
