Just one thing to remember when you travel into the back country in Alaska or Canada you are on your own. There won't anyone looking for you it is just too remote and parkies, Troopers, RCMP's are few for such a large area. Helicopter rescues are rarely available. Be prepared to take care of yourself, don't get in over your head.
We just lost a hiker this week in the Mt. just outside of Anchorage with all the resources available right here he is still missing. He is an inexperience person with training and gear, but the weather came in over night and hasn't let up.
Mt. rescue, Trooper helicopter, and other volunteers have looked for a week still no sign of him, we still hold out hope because of his training but Hypothermia, weather and time are not in his favor.
