Roll Call Alaska 2016
I have been planning this trip for 4+ years. It is now time to update my estimates and make my reservations. Estimate Wash/BC border about 5 May 2016, north on route 97/1/2 to Tok, south to Valdez...

Yes, a column of suitable size to insert confirmed dates/locations for where that traveler will be. Just so if anyone is in the area we can meet up. For instance we'll be in Skagway for a few days before we depart for Haines on the AMHS ferry at a specific time and date.
This will require a column for e-mail and/or cell numbers for txt contact. We will have 3 cells among us and a SAT phone. Probably not everyone will want to provide this info. That's fine, we'll chat with them on this forum when those campers get home. Keeping in contact on these types of trips is not easy. Alaska is a very large state with few roads compared to the Lower 48 states. Especially once everyone is on the move and doesn't have daily internet access. The PDF will soon grow stale but I feel it's better than nothing. Thank you for putting in the effort to organize Alaska 2016.. Is it time to leave yet?
I lived in AK for 25 years until 2006. I've driven the Alaska Hwy dozens of times and would never consider trying to lead a caravan. There is just too much to do and see and everyone in a caravan will want to travel at their own pace, see what interests them etc. I've done motorcycle group tours for a group of 6 from around the US, plus a friend of mine from Whitehorse Y.T. and that was a tremendous amount of work on my part. I pulled it off very successfully I might add. (pat on back) The group jumped on the AMHS in Bellingham, picked me up in JNU and we got off in Haines, heading north from there. Did the interior and rode home via the Alaska Hwy. Great Trip. I drove south with them as I needed to get back to SEA where my mother was hospitalized trying to survive cancer. She survived my trip dates but passed shortly thereafter.
When I got to our lodging at Denali N.P. all the phones in the cabins I had rented for our group had the red message light blinking that there was a msg. They didn't know which room I would get so they lit em all up since all the rooms were in my name for our group. It was for me. The ICU in SEA was trying to contact next of kin to get authorization for a medical procedure. Put a damper on the entire trip for me, worry, worry, worry, but everyone else had a great tour of Alaska.
About one year in advance of this AK trip I built a web page available to all in our MC club that had every detail of our plans, lodging, prices, dates, routes. You name it was one heck of a web page with several pages within, from lodging, meals, tourist attractions (links to them etc.), photos which I uploaded daily when possible along the trip for many riders in our owners group who could not make the trip.
But enough about me.
