- R__WalterExplorerI've been in Alaska on several previous fishing trips, but always flew up. My wife and I just retired and are on the road full-timing, more or less. Currently we're in Mass volunteering at a COE site for the summer. Alaska is on our itinerary for next summer, at least on mine. Wife may or may not accompany me. I'm debating on pulling our 32 foot Hitchhiker or taking my Lance truck camper. Still have about 11 months to decide. Maybe I'll meet up with some of you next summer.
- keyspirateExplorerPlanning our second trip next year. We will be doing trains, boats and planes while there.
- fanrgsExplorerWe are currently planning to go to a June conference in Fairbanks next year. However, we may tow the 5th wheel to Bellingham, take the AMHS ferry to Whittier without the truck and trailer, ride the train to Fairbanks, and fly back to Seattle. That way we can go back to our favorite parts of the Pacific Northwest and southern BC on the way home with the RV, but not spend two to three weeks just driving to and from Alaska like we did in 2013.
With the Alaska TourSaver coupon book, we can probably save $700 just on railroad fares and car rental in Fairbanks. Just wish we could use it for the ferry! - colliehaulerExplorer III

Will do
You might want to edit your title to match past years....Roll Call Alaska 2017 so it continues throughout the year. It really gets confusing when a lot of new Alaska posts are made. - GermaniaExplorerWe did it last year at age 75, no problem. There are a lot of old time horror stories about the trip that are no longer relevant due to road improvements etc.
- big_jim_2Explorer IIBeen there twice, purchase the Milepost now and you will have something to drool over until your trip. Plenty of services we may go again but my age 74 makes me wonder?

- jnharleyExplorerWe plan to travel to Alaska next summer. We may look for a house in the Homer area. We love it that much!
- MurphsmomExplorerWe're pushing for next summer, too. Both of us have been there several times, but I have never driven it. DH made the trip back in 1996, traveling with two buddies and hauling a horse trailer full of construction supplies. They made it from central Idaho to Soldotna in 72 hours. That is NOT how we envision this trip!
- jmckelvyExplorerI hope to do it again next year. This would be our 3rd trip.
