I often see the rear bumpers of fifth wheels and trailers hitting the highway when the truck/trailer hit the frost heave. Sparks fly out too.
We label some of the frost heaves as "kitchen killers" because things will fly around inside too.
Ahh, Sue, your post reminds me of our summer trip in 2016. First 2-3 weeks we spent 1-2 hours at the end of each driving day fixing broken stuff and picking up stuff in the kitchen, bathroom and rear storage area.
We had our 3 folding camping chairs hung on hooks to the rear ladder with a very nice Sunbrella fabric cover with nylon straps that also wrapped around the ladder and were secured with plastic clips. When we stopped for the night we started cleaning up and fixing the days damage. I walked around the back of the trailer and just stood there. Chairs, cover, everything was gone and had been well secured.
At the end of another day along the Cassiar heading north (Hwy 97 was washed out north of Prince George) we stopped early in the afternoon and got camp all set up. As others arrived during the afternoon I started chatting with a fellow in a nice class A MH from FL. I strolled down and asked him how he was doing. He said thankful to be off that road. I said well, if you're headed north to Alaska it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
