Hey All! We left for AK last May 15th. Best RV trip ever! Period, Hands down. Whitehorse has two great museums. Don't miss the Sign Forest--it's just neat. Watch for animals, but they disappeared after we got into AK (except for little red squirrels). The first RV park in Tok (right side, can't recall name) has a good wash place. Anchorage has a Costco with their rotisserie chicken and gas. There is NO RV parking in parking lots in the city and RV parks are limited. We really enjoyed the Anchorage Zoo, it's a different type of venue.
Seward and it's waterfront RV parking is good. You won't beat the view. The first of June means the rates double.
Soldotna has a Fred Meyers that allowed a couple days parking and had sani huts. There are several camping places in the area and good services.
Homer--the Spit was unique to be sure. We scored some parking spots right at the Fishing Hole, dry camping, right on the water! The end of the Spit has a fishing area near some sort of fish processing buildings on stilts, but the fish were supposedly wormy. Don't forget the Salty Dawg-try to find our dollar bill with Ray & Karen written on it.
Denali has the best camping 29 miles in the park. A note; about 5 miles North of the little village (Subway, ice cream, T shirts, etc) was a RV park on the left of the highway, but the water was brown!
You All have a blast! The trip was the best.
