Okay...I know 2017 hasn't even taken off, but those of you that remember me from Roll Call 2013 know that I plan well ahead of time, lol.4 years is way too long to go without being in Alaska so we are heading up again. This time my sister (Barbara), her husband (Pat) and their baby poodle (Koko) are going with us with their Bounder. We are planning to leave from Bullhead City, AZ around the end of May.Would love to get a roll call started if anyone else out there is as much of an early planner as I am.For those of you heading up this year, have a safe and wonderful trip and maybe you will enjoy it so much that you will join us in 2018. :WJanet and Gary

JANETRUPP, We're planning on our first Alaska Highway trip, summer 2018. In fact, already doing some preventative maintenance to our 5th wheel and truck. Hoping to minimize some of the issues that may arise. Just purchased The Milepost and another book for the trip. Going to get passports soon, once I perfect my alias :D memtb

wow, I'm not the only early bird out there. As soon as we get more people signed up I will get a list going so we will know who is traveling with us.In the past we made a sign for the window of our MH just stating "Roll Call Alaska 2018" and our name and our rv.net name. This way people that we have been internet chatting with may catch us on the road.Welcome aboard and have fun with the planning. That is half the fun.Janet

Jane, we plan on going back in 2018. We will leave a little earlier than you. We have to be in Wasilla for Memorial Day weekend. Usually leave Fort Worth, TX the middle of April and meander our way north!

You got lots of good tips on your last 'Roll Call' which is now a 'Sticky' on the top of this forum page. Everyone should read them!!

Hey you will be all the way up in Montana....sure join us....only a hop, skip, and jump to Alaska, lol. All kidding aside. All of it is a beautiful experience not just Alaska. Canada and the Yukon are beautiful and a wonderful part of the trip also. We like to come back thru Cassiar Hwy (to see the Hyder bears) then go to Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff before heading home. We may hit Yellowstone again on our way back to Arizona. My three favorite places, Alaska, Icefields Parkway and Yellowstone.

We're from Southern California in Riverside county.

I have never heard of Bella Coola but it sounds fantastic. I hope someone here will chime in that has been there.

Actually one of the best months in Alaska is MAY. If you can try to leave so that you cross the Alaska border around the middle of May.

And DO take the detour to Skagway from Whitehorse. The drive is spectacular almost as good as the drive to Valdez.

But this is awfully early to think about 2018...

I highly recommend the Haines Junction, Haines, ferry, Skagway, north loop.

And in Haines or Skagway take the Fjord Express to Juneau. VERY worthwhile.

The Skagway drive north is relative close to the railroad.

And would like to be in Alaska early May 2018. We are in the early planning stages and thinking of going with a caravan or traveling with small group of people would be fun.

Well we just cancelled our 2017 reservations because of medical reasons. We have moved all plans to 2018. Will be leaving the first part of June and return to the lower 48 in October.
