Route 29

US 29 is 4 lanes from the NC border to I66 in Northern VA. Sections are interstate grade and others are excellent 4 lanes. 60 mph most of the way except 65 on bypasses. Lynchburg bypass is 70 mph. Worst part is around Charlottesville. No bypass there. They like you to ride through town. If you are coming from the south, I 64 is on the southern end of Charlottesville and will be no problems. From the north, well that is a different story. Quite a bit of stop and go for a few miles.

Yes. No steep slopes, all 4 lane, or more. Bypasses much city traffic, except at the northern end and through Charlottesville, at the I-64 end.
