Route 84 in PA

Does anyone know if the potholes have been fixed? When I went through there in my car in May, it was terrible, and I am relunctant to drive through there towing a trailer.

We need to get to Matamoras, PA from Harrisburg, PA. Is there any other way to go to avoid poor road conditions?
  • Yep, I just came through there two weeks ago myself. I found the W/B side to be more jaw rattling than the E/B side. I've managed to adjust to the 83/81 issues and 78 has gotten better. I found 84 to be really frustrating. On top of that a tractor trailer towing an empty low boy was all over the road on 84 in NY at 0500 and threw a rock cracking my windshield. Certainly not the roadway's fault and it was not in PA! Hah!
  • I was just up there 2 weeks ago. They are working on several stretches but there is still quite a bit of rough road...
  • 78 east is not great either; from 81 to nj border.

    ...from yesterday

    I would do 81n to 80e to 209n
  • Welcome to Pennsylvania. Potholes are a way of live.
I don't know if they have been repaired on I-84.
One option is to take I-78 east just past Allentown, PA then 33 north to Stroudsburg, PA. At Stroudsburg pick up US 209 to Matamoras.
From Stroudsburg to Matamoras it's two lane. I have not beet there for a few years but, it was good road. We took our 37' Southwind on that route with no problems.
When you travel in Pennsylvania, assume there will be road work on any route you take. You are usually not disapointed. :E

You can check the PennDot Travel Information site for construction info.
