Route around Austin Texas

Is Hwy 130 a viable option around Austin during rush hour traffic on a Thursday?

Any time we have traveled thru Austin, I-35 has always presented a challenge but this is the 1st time we have ever pulled the trailer, so really not looking forward to this part of the trip.

Trying to find the most sane way to get to McKinney Falls with 3 kids and a wife in the truck!!!!

Is it/how much of it is a toll road because it looks like the toll portion doesn't start until south of Austin.

    I love that I30 and I'll take it every time instead of driving thru Austin traffic. Its even worse there when they have a collage game.

    One nice thing about Austin area toll way is that they send the bill to you via mail if you don't have the tag that goes on the window. That is something you can worry about later not pay as you go.

    We took I 30 on our way to San Antonio and it is worth it! Speed limit is 80, how crazy is that! It's a nice new road and there was hardly any traffic on it at all. We got on south of Waco and took it to San Antonio and back on it on the way home. You don't even have to stop and pay the tolls, they'll send you a bill in the mail. It did cost $49 but missing Austin traffic was worth it.

    Without a doubt take the toll road. It is longer and you pay tolls but it's worth every penny. Saves your sanity as you don't have to mess with that I35 traffic.

    Based on this info, it looks like I'd be taking the Mustang Ridge exit.
    So, since I'd be passing thru segment 1-4, are the prices quoted per segment, and would I be paying 4 tolls (roughly $20), or just one toll to get me that far ($5)?
