Route assistance Seattle to Grand Forks, ND

I need a little route assistance getting my friends from Seattle to Grand Forks, ND. The plan is to run through Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore on their way. I need to know what routes to avoid for towing purposes. The TV is a 2000 Ford Expy w/tow pkg and the 5.4l and a 20' trailer (4180lbs mostly loaded). All checks out weight wise easily. They are new to it and I haven't trailered out that way. I know there are passes that can't be avoided but there may be some spots that are less than desirable. I really appreciate your help!
  • I heard about the NE entrance. I wasn't sure about the eastern entrance proper as I remember it as a long slog too. Maybe it's not as steep? If they do it right they should be going out the east entrance heading downhill to Cody. Good to know about 14. I do appreciate that!
  • I'd suggest avoiding US 14 between Cody and Buffalo, Wyoming; go around the Bighorn Mts instead. And it almost goes without saying that they should avoid the northeast entrance into/out of Yellowstone (i.e. Beartooth Pass).
