Route planning tool ?

I had used MapQuest for years to help plan my trips. They recently changes the website and it's functions making it much less usable.
Do you have any recommendations for a web based route / map planning tool ?
  • Google Maps is ok. It lets you change the route by "dragging" the line on the map.
  • I also changed to Google Maps. Have you tried the Good Sam Trip Planner? http://trips.goodsamclub.com/
  • I use Google Maps a lot and then use my phone as a GPS, so that's Google Maps again. I finally figured out how to get a route off my PC and into my phone navigation which helps a lot.

However, for long term planning...like a big route of several months I end up back on Streets & Trips because it lets you put in as many stops as you want. Google Maps won't let you have more than a few stops in a route.
  • Best I have found is Goodsam trip planning on line - used it for a couple of years now

Good Sam's Trip Planner features tools and information designed to help you have the best road trip - every time. When planning RV or car trips, you can make use of:
    • Point-to-point trip planning
    • Research and add Good Sam Parks to your route
    • Search thousands of Points of Interest and add to your route
    • Calculate fuel costs and travel time
    • Options include avoiding highways and/or tolls
    • Use RV travel filters to see low clearance and tunnel warnings
    • Download trips to your Good Sam GPS

Thanks-- I'll check them out . I'm just starting to plan next summer's 4 month trip.
  • I use RV Trip Wizard. It is a subscription service but it does a very good job on trip planning. You can customize it to fit your individual needs.www.rvtripwizard.com will give you a look with a free demo then you decide if you want to use it or not.
