Rode the ferry's for years doing computer repair in a full sized van and never had an issue getting doors opened. - Steve1950Exploreri just went down I-5 last Friday. Between 10 and noon. It wasn''t too bad. I followed the big rigs, if they were in the second lane, I moved to the second lane. That one move helped make the trip smoother.

- samsontdogExplorerWe left La Conner at 7:30 AM and went through Seattle 62 MPH , no slow downs. Always travel through Seattle on the weekends. Works for us the last 16 years during the summers only
- Roy_LynneExplorerTraffic was horrid this summer but it seems to have lessened somewhat. There is a way to go east and end up on 18 to 167 to 512 to I5, and its a pretty drive but takes forever.

just stay with I-5, try not to do the rush hour.
My advise also. Going slow on the 5 isn't a bad thing. The expansion joints can really rattle your teeth at normal speeds. The bad spot will be Everett.
I live in Birch Bay and run the 5 all the time. no big deal. The 405 can be a lot worse.
While the Ferry and run down 101 to Olympia will likely take longer then I5 the drive is breath taking!!
This has made me think, DW likes a getaway to Orcas Island, may be the better route to the San Juan's! - dons2346Explorer
