Petrified Forest & Painted Desert are fun, as is Meteor Crater, both on I-40. Camp Verde/Cottonwood/Sedona are very nice - lots of native ruins in the area. Be sure to drive up to Jerome, and don't miss the scenic train ride from Cottonwood.
In Flagstaff, visit the observatory where many neat discoveries were made. And you'll not be all that far from the Grand Canyon.
North of Albuquerque, Santa Fe is nice, and Los Alamos is well worth it. The cliff dwellings at Bandalier National Monument are exceptional.
Ten day may not be enough . . . we took about a month for all that stuff (and more).
