As motorcoach (tour bus) driver, might I suggest heading west from Buffalo.
I90 (or 20 to avoid tolls) to 380 or you can cut the corner at Batavia to Mt Morris.
From Corning/Painted Post follow 15 basically to Fredrick Md and grab 270 to DC.
15 is a fab scenic route along the mighty (wide) Susquehanna!
Can't wait 'til I head down 15 again!
