We are heading to the KOA in Pedaluma, Ca. We'll be traveling north from San Diego on the 5. I'm looking for an RV friendly route to get from the 5 to Pedaluma. Thanks Bill

Interstate 5 to the 580 and stay on it until you hit US 101. Then north to Petaluma. Not the most scenic but ok. Great bridge across San Pablo Bay....have your camera ready.

I would go up I-5 until I hit Hwy 12; go west on 12 to I-80, then west on 80 to Hwy 37, west on 37, then turn right onto Lakeville Hwy right past the turn off for the Sonoma Raceway (old Sears Point Raceway). Hwy 12 will take you through the delta which is prettier than driving 580, and Lakeville Hwy is a pretty back way into Petaluma. It's only about 20 miles longer than the 580 route, but is nicer.

We took I-80 then skirted around SF, didn't want to deal with Friday afternoon traffic, through the Napa valley. That is a beautiful area.

I used to take I-580 route (too much traffic) then switched to I-580 to I-680 to I-780 to CA37 to Lakeville Hwy. Then that route got too crowded on I-680 so I now take the extra 30 minutes and use the CA12 route that Toedtoes stated.
