Keep an eye on your speed on the way down 17. If using a GPS, DO NOT take the Schnebbly Hill exit if it suggests that route. It's a dirt 4x4 road after a short distance.
Did 17 to 178 in a UHaul pulling a car on a carrier. Almost no brakes at the stop sign at the bottom of the exit. - BB_TXNomadIf you look at google street view just before you start the downhill grade going south toward Sedona, there is a sign that says 50' limit.
- zigzagrvExplorerI did it with the rig in my sig. Hairy, but beautiful, for the DW anyway, as I spent most of my time watching the road. There is one pullout at Oak Creek where you can stop and get some nice views of the area.
- KountryguyExplorerThanks for all the advice. I will take the Big road.
- LaurenExplorerI will say the same as above. Have driven it many times.
I DO think there is a 50 foot limit Flag to Sedona but, if not, there should be.
Beautiful drive to be sure but not for an RV. - jfkmkExplorerRoy's google earth shot says it all. 89A is a beautiful drive and well worth taking. I'd never consider towing anything on this section or driving an rv on it.
- SinglemindedExplorerWe've driven Oak Creek Canyon many times....always in a four wheel vehicle...I would never even remotely consider taking any rig through there......well worth driving , incredibly beautiful, but not for RV's!
Just my two cents worth! - RoyBExplorer IIJust did a SNIP from google maps showing the loop-backs at OAK CREEK VISTA on 89A... I need the practice snipping views from google earth maps... It's not quite CLICK CLICK yet for me to do this...

Roy Ken - JanssExplorer IIPretty sure I've seen a 50ft limit sign when exiting I-17 at the Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon exit a couple miles south of Flagstaff.
I don't recommend driving 89A with a large RV. - RoyBExplorer II2gypsies - Thanks for the YOUTUBE trip down the 89A from the Oak Creek Vista area. Brought back some good memories from the past...
