RT-95 Bridge Repair

How bad is the back on 95 north around exit 170 in SC due to bridge work? I heard it was an hour delay to go a few miles.

  • We will be into NJ later today. I left I-95 at Exit 53 in SC and have avoided freeways except for a short stretch through Norfolk. Been a very pleasant trip.

Much less stressful than driving the racing idiots on I-95.
  • Thanks for the info. If I was 4 wheeling I would take the detour, but I guess I will stay on and wait it out.
  • If you don't mid about a 18 traffic lights, take I-20 east then follow signs for 301 North. You do go though downtown Florence, but it isn't that bad as no turns need to be made and it is dual in town. Most of 301 is dual lane road once outside of town.

301 will go under 95 at the NC/SC border.
  • Exit 170 on IH-95 in South Carolina is what I read in the OP

Though a clearer subject line might help.

Lots of post / questions about IH-95 on this forum the past few days as the snowbirds head back toward Pennsylvania, New York and New England.

South Carolina Road Conditions/ Cameras Shows that the overpass construction continues for about another month with one lane closed on the northbound side.

    "Emergency Bridge Repair

Emergency bridge repairs have required that SCDOT close the left lane of I-95 north at mile marker 174. Expect delays because of this closure. An alternate route is to take SC 327 , exit 170 to US 76 to US 301 to SC 38 back to I-95 north. This detour route is signed."

So to the OP - looks likely it will be a big slowdown.
