RV 'Scrap' Yards in Ontario

Hi:

I spent some time, as did a friend of mine, trying to find an old trailer scrap yard to see if we could buy some parts at more reasonable prices.

To my surprise I found little to nothing in the province of Ontario, other than some individuals with small ad-hock part caches floating around and one person who takes them straight to the crusher. Does anyone know of a place (Ontario)?

I even went so far as to ask 3 or 4 dealers at the RV show yesterday, none of them knew anyone and they seemed to just use on the fly ways of getting rid of trailers that are too old to sell.

Any leads appreciated.

    Give Can-Am RV in London Ontario a call. Last time I was there I noticed a huge back field with a lot of old RVs. Do not know if they part them out but some of them were beyond their best before date.

    there are several RV surplus stores in southwestern Michigan.
    They buy surplus parts from the RV manufacturers in Northern Indiana.
    I have used and like Brontrager's Surplus on US 12 east of White Pigeon, Michigan
    They usually have wheels and axles, some furniture, lots of small interior RV parts, some appliances
    Another place is Tri State RV Surplus in Hudson, MIchigan, but they are not as big
    .

    A lot of small family run RV dealers have a good stock of new non-current and used parts. I've had good luck with Tyssen's on 48 just east of you.

    If you find a good spot please post it.

    Will do, I sent an email to the one, the price list looks pretty high but of course most things in life are negotiable (fridge is on my list, but at $800 I can fix what I have and have $125 left over to pay for my labour)

    Unfortunately a lot of other businesses have taken a page from the auto wreckers book.

    They no longer look at a part and decide $100 would be fair, they look at that part as being $1,200 new so it must be worth $800 used.

    They did reply with a $600 quote on a fridge, $200 less than the price list, maybe it is what the market will bear I don't know.
    I am following the thread on going to an electric 'apartment' fridge ..... but then I would need more battery than I have when I dry camp which is a couple of weeks per year .... but then my existing battery is due to go anyway .... oh why are there so many choices in life? :h
