RV Storage in New Orleans? Advice from a Local?

Hello -

I'm looking for a secure storage lot to put my C class in for a week near the Uptown / Carrollton area of New Orleans, while I share a house with the family. I've found a couple of storage places, but don't know the areas well enough to know if they are in a safe neighborhood. I'd like to know of any other suggestions, or if either of these two would be a better area to drive to / through?

1.) 1120 S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy: closest intersection is S. Jeff Davis / Earhart / Washington.

2.) 3900 Tchoupitoulas: near intersection of Tchoupitoulas & General Taylor.

I must say, neither site looks great when I use Google Street View.

I'd appreciate any help available from any New Orleans locals?

    As Dancing Campers stated, Belle Chasse Boat and RV storage is great. Totally secure and several options. FHU sites, or covered electric. We've stored our MH there for about 8 yrs. now in a lockable stall. A little far from uptown but the options on location you stated aren't viable. Remember in the Big Easy the boulevards are ok but side streets are very narrow with parked cars on both sides.

    Elmwood self storage

    Probably another good one. You can zip uptown down Jefferson highway quickly (though through bad neighborhood for a minute).

    Jefferson Highway intersects Clearview. Jefferson turns into Claiborne at the parish line. So from storage to uptown, you would turn left from Elmwood to Jefferson Highway and stay on that until it turns to Claiborne and go from there. Numerous ways to go without having to get on interstate.


    Krantz Storage is probably another good one.

    Pasternak storage this is probably a good place.

    No and no to one and two choices,

    Agree Bayou Signette is good and try maybe Harahan/River Ridge/upper Jefferson area. Maybe Metairie and Clearview.

    There is an RV resort in French Quarter... Maybe see if they have any spots open.

    There are also a few Mini Storage places on Jefferson Hwy in Jefferson 70121, if you are looking for a place just to store your unit and are not staying in it. Most are very secure and locked up . Bill

    Those areas are not the best for staying. Bayou segnette Park is a good option. 15 mins from uptown New Orleans. I think you would feel more secure there. I don't live too far from there and as in most towns there are some good and not so good areas. Uptown is great but I would stay away from your 2 picks. There is also a KOA in Kenner on Jefferson Hwy. That is maybe 5 -10 more mins away. Hope this helps.. Bill

    I don't live in N.O. but know the general area you are talking about. If it's only a week would Bayou Segnette State Park be an option? Located in Westwego it is about 10 minutes from the Quarter over the Huey P. Long bridge. The sites are @ $20.00 a night but you could plug the electrics in if you wanted to.
