There is an advantage in doing the 101 south as it is eaier to pull over at an ocean view site on the right as you are headed south. we did this last year in March and encountered lots of rain on the coast. We took a month for our trip. One week at DL with gandkids. Back up on i-5. Having lived in Langley, BC we made many trips up and down I5 through Seatle, and definately recommend 405 not I5 because the expnsion joints on I 5 are very rough.
