I like the US highways but they are slower.... they go through towns. Their surface seem to be smoother than the interstates.
I-40 was in very good shape from NM through TN this past May... except about 50 miles in the west Memphis, Arkansaw area and they were working on it.
US50 goes from sacremento to Anapolis, MD.... through Wash DC... a fun trip
Traffic wasn't bad on either road
