Sacramento mosquitoes?

Can anybody give me an idea of what the skeeter situation is, these days, right by the river? Are they out in the early morning, evening, all day? How bad?

I'd love to hear about different places along the Sacto river, if people know. In order to make an informed choice of RV park:).

(The park I talked to today, the workers don't live onsite and are only there midday, so they didn't know.)

  • The mosquitoes are out in force now that we had some wet weather and then warming temperatures. Anywhere you go along the sacramento river you will find mosquitoes. If you are near areas of green vegetation, you will even find them during the daylight hours. I live 10 miles from the Sacramento river, and just returned from a few days in the motorhome near Colusa. Take precautions!

Thank you folks, especially Jake2250 or the detailed info!

I don't have AC or window screens in my van. Haven't needed them as I normally camp in dry areas, but that leaves me pretty defenseless if there ARE bugs!

Yeah I gotta agree with ya! Skeeters are manageable here, south east is brutal for bugs!! They have biting bugs you can't even see!!
  • We spent a week along Dry Creek in Yuba County right next to the Yuba river,, Skeeters were heavy in the late afternoon till early evening, Weather has been really mild so yeah,, bring some Deet and light a fire..
