Sacramento Traffic

Whats traffic like in Sacramento going through on I5? I'd probably shoot for a weekend but just in case whats in like during the week (outside of rush hours of course).

Not bad or something to be avoided with an RV (forty foot with toad in my case)? I do see some possibilities for going around if its real bad but nothing that looks particularly straightforward.

Thanks
  • There are only a few towns in the west that have any traffic. Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Los Angeles. Others don't have enough to be concerned about.

Except for the signs, you will not know you are going by Sac. The highway bypasses 99% of it. Of course at rush hour all bets are off same as any other large city.

I seem to remember that the highway went right over the city, almost like a raised highway.
Is my memory failing? Of course it is.

  • I lived in Sac for 28 years. I agree, no problems if you avoid rush hour traffic.
  • Have gone through Sacramento a lot with a Class A and toad and never had a problem at all.
Of course, it goes without saying, not during rush hour.
  • We've never had any problems with our RV (53 foot 5th wheel and dually combo).
