Salt Lake to Moab Utah

I'm planning a trip to Moab, Utah From the Boise area in June.
Can anyone tell me how the hwy 89/6/191 route is from I-15 over to Moab? Or is it best to continue down I-15 to hwy 50 and over to I-70?
Thank You!
  • Go 89/6. Spanish Fork canyon is pretty and has a lot of passing lanes. The yellow speed signs on corners are accurate -- you don't want to go above the recommended speed like cars do. As you get just before Helper there's a steep grade (downhill). Just take it easy and all is good. A lot of semi trucks use this canyon -- it's the main route to Colorado. From Price to Moab is largely flat. It can get windy down by I-70 (Green River) if there's storms about but we don't get that many storms.
  • good route. there's a nice state park in Green River, right in town and on the river.
  • If you overnight in the Green River area, you could do a day trip and check out the San Rafael Swell area which has The Wedge (aka Little Grand Canyon), Buckhorn Wash pictographs, or a separate jaunt over to nearby Goblin Valley state park (part of Galaxy Quest was filmed there). There are boondocking options on this area.
  • The less time you spend on I-15 the calmer you will be upon arrival!
